“Cynthia Rose Photography - The Blog” Debut!
Posted on May 23, 2009
So, I have finally decided it was time to start a blog for Cynthia Rose Photography. I think it will be a really good way to show off all of the gorgeous clients I work with. ;)
Where to start? I am Cindy. Contrary to the name of my business, my name is actually Cynthia Cano. ‘Rose’ is my middle name! I’ve gone by Cindy my entire life, but you are free to call me Cynthia, Cindy, or Cyndia (yes, one of my 3-year-old clients recently gave me this name!). I’ve been in Havelock since first grade, so I am definitely not new to the area! My dad is a retired Marine. I attended Gurganus Elementary, Havelock Middle School, Tucker Creek Middle School, and graduated from Havelock High. So for me, North Carolina is home. I love sweet tea and country music (Rascal Flatts, anyone?), and I love living in a small town.
I got married on New Year’s Eve, only to say goodbye to my new husband a couple of weeks later when he deployed to Iraq. He is a combat photographer and you can find some of his work on the main website. I love my husband and I miss him profusely! Although we got married by the New Bern magistrate on New Year’s Eve, we are planning a wedding celebration for when he returns next year. So needless to say, my life is truly revolving around WEDDINGS this year. :) I’m not complaining…I love it. This is not just a job to me! I love hearing wedding details and anticipating what a client will look like on her wedding day. I am 22 years old, so fairly new to the business, but I sincerely feel as though I’ve found my niche, my place in the world if you will. I know you’ve probably read dozens of photography websites that say they want to “capture the moment.” I want to capture the moment, but I always try to do so with an artist’s eye. I don’t want to direct you too much. I don’t want every photo to be preceded by “1..2…3…cheese!” Something else I like to do for my clients is give their photos extra attention in Photoshop after the images have been taken. I will retouch all of your photos to be as beautiful as they can possibly be, and I certainly won’t charge you extra for it. I don’t want to give you anything dull and lifeless. I want your colors to pop, your black and whites to be rich. I like to play with other artistic edits to give you options for printing.
In January I made my “bridal show debut” at both the Crystal Coast Bridal Show and New Bern Bridal Expo. It was great meeting brides and grooms and moms and dads and grandparents and maids of honor and bridesmaids. :) And being that I’m also very into design, it was so much fun to design my booth!
With alllll of that said, let’s get to the photos! Here are my favorites from recent sessions!
Jenn & Tony
Oh my gosh, I love these guys! Jenn & Tony, originally from Ohio, are planning their wedding for September at St. Egbert’s Catholic Church in Morehead City, with a reception to follow at the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach. They are outgoing, full of energy, and it’s obvious they love life. You can just tell their life together will never be boring. We shot their engagement photos at Fort Macon and Atlantic Beach. They were great to work with, and I am SO excited for their wedding!

Nichole & David
What a wonderful couple! I worked with them at Fort Macon and Atlantic Beach. We got tons of great shots - it wasn’t hard to get David to cuddle up to Nichole! He obviously adores her. I look forward to seeing them celebrate their marriage aboard Camp Lejeune with family and friends!

Amy & David
I swear, I get the nicest, most laidback clients. I am seriously lucky. David is a sheriff in Jacksonville, and Amy is a teacher. Now I can truly say “I shot the sheriff” (I know, corny, but I couldn’t resist). ;) These are two people who clearly complement each other very well. The spark between them is awesome. We shot their engagements in downtown Jacksonville, and they were a breeze to work with! Amy and David will host their wedding at the White Oak River Bistro in Swansboro this July, which is coming up very soon (can’t wait!).

Kindra & Bryan
Kindra was the first client to get me into Facebook! I’ve had an account for awhile, but now I log in every day and some of my other clients have found me there too. I love chatting with Kindra about wedding planning! She and Bryan are the type of people you automatically feel comfortable with, and their connection with each other is just plain as day. Observing them, it just seems right for them to be together. Historic Beaufort was such a great place to shoot their engagement photos. We finished up at Atlantic Beach! Their wedding will be held in November at Fort Macon. She’s chosen a great color scheme, so I’m excited to see the decor at her wedding. I’m really eager for her bridal portrait session too!

Hopkins Family
This family portrait session was really cool for me since I went to high school with the Hopkins. Jessica Sasser Hopkins & Chris Hopkins are the proud parents of the absolutely adorable CJ! He is my little client who has dubbed me Cyndia. I hope to work with them again in the future. CJ is the kind of kid you want to take pictures of all day long. :) We did all of their photos at Fort Macon!
